Antwerp-based artist Dennis Tyfus (b. 1979) produces diverse visual work that is not always museum conceived, nor does it have an exclusive intention of being merely collected or displayed. As an artist, musician and publisher, he produces and distributes drawings, paintings and graphic work, interspersed with video installations, sculptures and music. Completing the spectrum are self-designed posters, record covers, flyers, stickers and tattoos. His divergent practice is characterized by the preservation of great street credibility combined with an anarchic attitude toward the formal contemporary art world. His drawing and painting is a concentrated activity with great attention to color and composition. With pen and felt pen, he creates colorful cartoonish drawings with absurd scenes or dialogues.
