The installations of Honoré d'O (1961, Oudenaarde as Raf Van Ommeslaege and 1984, Ghent as Honoré d'O) are compositions of everyday materials and objects that were made without the slightest technical pretension. He constantly introduces new objects that have been found by chance, thereby obscuring the boundary between the everyday and the artwork. The accidental showing of the spectator and his or her interaction with the work function as a perfection of the installations. In other words, the spectator becomes part of the work. Honoré d'O's installations are permeated with a sense of chaos in a web of underlying meanings and connections in which reality is constantly transformed into art and vice versa.
