Slabbinck Guy - The Bollywood Castings
2018 - Oil on canvas - 195 x 291 cm

Guy Slabbinck (Bruges, 1979) is a Belgian contemporary artist. He studied Graphic Design at LUCA School of Arts Ghent. Slabbinck is active as a painter and filmmaker.
As an artist, Slabbinck mainly makes paintings. He often works on themes such as exoticism, mythology, magic, spirituality, daily life and art history. Because he did not study painting, he searches for identity in art history. For this reason he is known to be inspired by the old masters from mainly the late baroque and romanticism, examples are: Delacroix, Rubens, Velazquez, Goya, Ensor, Van Dyck, Géricault and others.
Slabbinck's work has already been described by several people, including Felix Fasolt, Johan Debruyne and Willem Elias. [4] [5] [6]
In addition to painting, Slabbinck has also been involved in filmmaking since 2018. Painting plays a major role in this.
