Mario De Brabandere (born 1963 in Tielt, lives and works in Wondelgem, Ghent) makes paintings that at first sight seem simple, naive and unsuspecting in a color that violates reality. De Brabandere writes his work in an art tradition that runs through many centuries, styles and different disciplines and makes each canvas into an idiosyncratic composition.
